Dylan Alcott OAM, is one of Australia’s most successful and well recognised Paralympians. At the age of 17, he became the youngest ever wheelchair basketball gold medalist at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing. After gold at the 2010 world championship, and silver at the London Paralympics, he switched sports to wheelchair tennis, and to date has won 3 grand slam singles titles (including 2 Australian Opens) and is currently ranked number 1 in the world.
Born with a tumour wrapped around his spinal cord Dylan survived a three year battle to live and has been achieving ever since. He is honoured to have received an OAM in 2009 at the age of 18, set a trend for wheelchair crowd-surfing at one of Australia’s biggest music festivals and has rapped on stage with New York hip hop group, Wu-Tang Clan.
