Before she was an award-winning author, Wendy Orr was an occupational therapist. Then came the car accident that broke her neck, but made her a writer.

Wendy’s seventh book, Nim’s Island, was named one of the Best Books of 2002 by the Los Angeles Times. It also attracted the interest of Hollywood film studios. In 2008, seventeen years after hearing she might never walk again, Wendy walked the red carpet with Jodie Foster and Gerard Butler at the Hollywood premiere of Nim’s Island. She then hiked the Australian rainforest on location with Bindi Irwin, who starred in Return to Nim’s Island.

Wendy’s young adult and children’s books have been translated into more than twenty languages. Her accolades include the Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Award and the American Library Association Best of the Best list.
